Scrivet: A new hinge for 3D printed frames

Products · August 9, 2024

This new 5-barrel regular hinge from OBE is a hinge with an appearance of a rivet hinge but instead of being riveted it is assembled with screws. Therefore, the name Scrived was born as combination of SCREWS and RIVET.

Scrivet – equipped with threads on the fixing holes – is designed mainly for 3D printed frames. The modern rectangle look also is also helpful for being fixed in the temple without the risk of rotations.

With the 3D production technology, the hinge can be “sunk” totally in the frame, or it can even be positioned on a level that can be seen on the inner part of the temple. If it is hidden it is possible to create windows on the outer sides of the temple and use them also for decoration / personalization purposes.
Scrivet made for nickelsilver is offered nickelplated and already assembled with OBE’s anti floppy system Space screws which creates a smooth movement of the temples and avoids the risk of loosening.

We start the Scrivet generation in a width of 4 mm and 19 mm length. See our brochure!

But Scrivet is in the width and length totally variable by also positioning more screw holes which can be considered also a decoration element.
